Admissions information

Magna Academy has a few spaces in current year 8 and 9. Please contact Reception to book a tour if you are interested in transferring your child in those year groups to Magna Academy. Please note we are heavily oversubscribed for Year 7 joining us in September 2016, and anticipate the same situation for 2017. Siblings receive a high priority at Magna, so if you are considering applying for a year 7 place for a child in 2017, and have an older child already at another local school, transferring the older child to Magna could greatly increase you chance of getting a place for the younger child.

To make an application to transfer a current year 8 or 9 child here please contact the Borough of Poole's admission team on 01202 261936 or email school.admissions@poole.gov.uk.

If you are interested in a year 7 place for 2017, you will need to apply by 31 October 2016. Please find the Principal's Presentation from the open evenings here. We will still be running a series of dedicated Academy in Action tours in the Autumn term.

Magna Academy offers up to 180 places per year group. Applications for year 7 places for September 2017 should be made to the Borough of Poole by 31 October 2016. Late applications are highly unlikely to secure a place.

Banding assessment dates

All applicants to the Academy for a year 7 place in September 2017 are required to sit a Cognitive Ability Test. The test score will enable applicants to be allocated to an ability band, low, middle or high. A proportion of places are offered in each ability band. The tests take approximately 2 hours.

Dates for testing are as follows:

Saturday 17th September 2016 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00 NOW CLOSED TO BOOKINGS

Saturday 24th September 2016 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00 NOW CLOSED TO BOOKINGS

Saturday 1st October 2016 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00 NOW CLOSED TO BOOKINGS

If your child has not yet taken the test, and you make an application which names Magna Academy, we will contact you later in the year to arrange a testing date. It is vital that your child takes the test, as you are highly unlikely to get a place at Magna for your child if they have not taken the test.
