"I have lived in Poole almost all my life and was a Solicitor and Notary Public for over 50 years with a large regional firm of solicitors of which I was the senior partner for 10 years. I was Chairman of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for 11 years until 2011 and also for 33 years a trustee and latterly Chairman of the BSO Endowment Trust which raised funds to support the education and community work of the Orchestra. I was for many years the Chairman/President of a Dorset music society and the Vice-Chairman of Victim Support, Dorset until it was disbanded a few years ago.

I was a governor of an independent school for 18 years and of a Bournemouth boys secondary school for 12 years until 2012.  I was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset in 2006.

My main leisure interests are:  Music, theatre, travel, gardening and the countryside. I am also passionate about the benefits of education (in its widest sense) for all young people both in and outside the classroom and of getting involved in the local community.  Music and the arts can play an important role."
