Mathematics (Further Maths): A-Level

Course Description
Further Mathematics is to be studied in addition to A Level Mathematics as a supplementary qualification. The content is of a more sophisticated and varied nature than single option A Level Mathematics and would be recommended to students who intend to study Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Medicine or a similarly technical subject at degree level.
AS Further Maths and A Level Further Maths are now separate qualifications and it may be possible to offer AS Further Maths over two years depending on demand.
Course Outline
Year 1 (AS Level)
Paper 1 – Further Pure 1
Paper 2 – Three options, Further Pure 2, Further Statistics 1 or Further Mechanics 1
Year 2 (A2 Level)
Paper 1 – Further Pure 1
Paper 2 – Further Pure 2
Paper 3 -  options Further Pure 3, Further Statistics 1 or Further Mechanics 1 
Paper 4 – options Further Pure 4, Further Statistics 2 or Further Mechanics 2
Course Assessment
For AS the papers are both 1 hour 30 minutes long and are worth 50% of the marks each.
For A level each paper is also 1 hour 30 minutes and are each worth 25% of the marks for the whole exam.

The high degree of technical challenge within Further Mathematics makes it a very well respected qualification.
