Years 8 and 9

During Year 8 you will be choosing your GCSE options to study throughout Years 9 to11.

This is a time when you will need to think about what type of career you want for yourself and the qualifications needed to achieve your goals. You may not be thinking at this stage about the world of work or apprenticeship but this thinking also needs to be done to plan for Sixth Form applications and, ultimately, to potential University courses.

To help choose your subjects:

  • read your Curriculum Guidance Booklet very carefully, making notes as you do
  • talk to your parents
  • talk to your subject teachers and your tutors, who will be able to help guide you and give advice.

Important:
Remember to choose subjects that YOU would like to study. Don't take up a course because your friends will be in the same class or because someone else thinks it would be best for you. This is your educational journey.

At Magna Academy, we also have a Careers section in the Library. This contains lots of information on college options, on university courses and on paths into your preferred career(s).

Details of open days will be posted on the noticeboard too.
